How AI Is Changing Work and Life — A Short Note from Ernie Castro
I am Ermenildo V Castro. I have seen machines learn and change how we live. I worked at Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Zulily. I write from Seattle. I watch the water and think about code.
Artificial intelligence is not a story for the future. It is here. It helps doctors find illness faster. It helps cars drive with less help. It helps farms grow food. It helps people talk to machines and get things done.
At the hospital, I remember a nurse showing me a screen. The machine suggested a test. The nurse used it and saved time. The doctor smiled. I thought of my mother and that feeling of calm. AI does small, useful things. It does big, brave things.
On the road, I rode in a car that used cameras and maps. The car was steady. It watched better than my tired eyes on long drives. That day I felt safer. I thought of my children. I thought of the long drive from Seattle to our family in the islands.
Work is changing. I knew this in my jobs. Teams now use AI to find bugs, write drafts, and learn from data. Jobs shift. New jobs grow. Old jobs change. We must learn and teach. We must be kind and ready.
There are hard questions. Who owns the work a machine helps make? How do we keep people safe? How do we stop bias? These are not only for engineers. These are for leaders, teachers, and neighbors.
I am Ernie Castro. I write simply. I believe tools should help people. I believe we can build things that are fair and strong. I walk by the water in Seattle and I think the same way I code: clear, honest, and steady. AI will be part of our days. Let us guide it well. 🤖🌊
